Communications Assistant (Kickstart)

We are looking for an assistant to help with the marketing and communications of Filwood Community Centre.

💵 Salary: Minimum wage
📝 Contract: 6 months (with the possibility of extension)
🕒 Hours: 25 hours per week – flexible days
📅 Applications close: once suitable candidate has been found

Working alongside our Communications Coordinator, you will play a key role in promoting what’s on at the Centre (activities, groups and events).

Your duties will include:
– Creating content for our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and website
– Helping to put together our monthly e-newsletter and quarterly what’s on guide
– Creating posters and other promotional materials
– Providing assistance with any of the Centre’s activities and events
– Contributing to our internal communications system and reports
– Attending meetings as required
– Supporting the Communications Coordinator with daily duties
– Undertaking any other duties as identified by the Communications Coordinator

Person specification:
Essential:
– Good communication skills, both written and verbal
– An understanding of social media and web as an effective method of communication
– Good computer skills (with excellent Microsoft Office abilities – Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Ability to offer a flexible and adaptable approach to work required
– Willingness to learn

Desirable:
– Professional/academic qualifications in communications, marketing or a related discipline
– Experience in community work, whether volunteering or paid
