SMOOSH! From Paraorchestra

Hitting the streets of Knowle West in September

SMOOSH! A rip-roaring music parade from Paraorchestra

17th September 2021
4pm and 6.30pm*

Brought to you by Filwood Community Centre, SMOOSH! is a free event that will see a 70-strong brass and wind band performing rip-roaring pop music on the move through the streets of Knowle West this September – think, Basement Jaxx meets Adele meets Tricky!

Performed by Paraorchestra, with the support of community musicians and a troop of dancers, SMOOSH! is a show that ambushes you: you’ll find it around a street corner, or outside your house when you’re taking out the bins, and find yourself curiously drawn in – until you too are dancing and singing along in magnificent communal karaoke – a ‘massaoke’!

SMOOSH! delivers some much-needed live entertainment and a street-party vibe, bringing friends and families of Knowle West together for a safe, accessible, and joyful community celebration.

SMOOSH! is a Paraorchestra production in partnership with Bristol Beacon and Filwood Community Centre.

Composed by Emma-Jean Thackray

Directed by Charles Hazlewood

Choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves with Beth Hinton-Lever

SMOOSH! Has been made possible thanks to funding from:

Road closures:

We will be using a rolling road closure for the performance which will be managed by a traffic management company. The roads along the route will be closed a short time before the SMOOSH! parade arrives and will reopen once the procession has passed. The roads will not be closed for any longer than is necessary and access will be available for emergency vehicles at all times. If this impacts you, please follow the diversion or park up nearby for a few minutes until the parade has passed. If residents require vehicle access to their property during the show, and are unable to wait, they will be able to do so and the traffic management company will liaise with the event staff to ensure this is done safely.
