Knowle West now has its very own Walk of Hearts & Stars – paying tribute to local people both past and present.
The stars recognise those in Knowle West who have gone above and beyond to help out in the community over the coronavirus crisis.
They are in Filwood Community Centre’s courtyard, were painted by local people and even glow in the dark.
While the hearts remember Knowle Westers who have lost their lives over the last few months.
These can be seen in the re:store shop window on Filwood Broadway, and were ‘knitted with love’ by local resident Julie Atkinson.
The Walk was launched during a ‘stay at home’ lantern parade in Knowle West just before the second lockdown.
A digital booklet has been put together to show all the people who were nominated for a heart or star. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like one.
There is also a ‘Walk of Hearts & Stars 2020’ Facebook group – which shows how the project developed.
The Walk of Hearts & Stars is part of Filwood Fantastic – a collaboration between Filwood Community Centre, Knowle West Media Centre and KWMC: The Factory, which is funded by Creative Civic Change and Bristol City Council‘s Imagination fund.
